Welcome to Advent Evangelical Lutheran Church

Celebrating 50 Years of Ministry - 1963 - 2013 

Advent Lutheran Church is a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Advent is a supportive partner of the Southeastern synod in Atlanta. Advent has served the Augusta area and surrounding community since March of 1963. 

Our congregation offers weekly worship on Sunday morning at 9:15 a.m., and Wednesday evening worship services during the Advent and Lenten seasons. Advent celebrates worship with a ‘blended’ style of liturgy which offers the best of traditional and contemporary music. Our format for worship begins with corporate confession, followed by hymns, God’s Word, a message based upon God’s Holy Word, prayers, offering and sacrament. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper every Sunday morning. Children begin instruction for the sacrament in third grade.

In addition to worship, Advent offers Bible-based education for children, teenagers and adults. Our Sunday school classes for all ages begin on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Advent offers youth activities for middle school and high school students. Our congregation gathers for fellowship meals monthly, while supporting numerous small group ministries. Advent supports local and national ministries such as the ELCA World Hunger Appeal, Lutheran Disaster Response, GAP ministries, Columbia County Cares (food pantry) and many more!
